How I Became an NLP Coach for Salespeople

23 years ago, after being certified as a Master Practitioner in NLP, I founded an NLP institute in Sothern Nevada. I began teaching 6 month long NLP certification courses. A practitioner certification course in NLP teaches things like:

- Rapport – deep, fast and subconscious rapport
- Language patterns for information gathering
- Language patterns for influencing at the subconscious level
- Reframing – for problem-solving
- Ecology – for life balance

The salespeople who had enrolled in my courses began excelling in their careers. One rose to the top of a regional sales force, then to the #1 office in his company. They began asking for more training and coaching. I realized that the main skills of NLP are very useful for sales professionals even though most of them are not directly related to selling.

About that time, a land sales company out of Boca Raton Florida hired me to behaviorally model their best salesperson and best referral getter. They flew me to Florida to teach the model to their national sales force of about 50 people. Using the sales patterns I modeled, several of them went on to earn over 1 million dollars a year in take-home pay for the first time in the company’s history.
The company increased its sales by over 150 million dollars in the next few years.
I used a combination of patterns I had modeled from those world-class salespeople plus the NLP patterns of resourcefulness that are so valuable for salespeople in general.
